Mary Ellen Jones, 74, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Lansing, KS. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Weston. The family suggests contributions be given to the Weston Alumni Association. Mary was born April 7, 1938 in Dearborn, MO to Samuel Duncan and Nadine Ellen Jones. She was raised in Weston, where she graduated from Weston High School. Mary was a homemaker, and moved to the Leavenworth/Lansing area after she married. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Leavenworth. Mary enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dominoes, and other games. Known for her competitive spirit, she hated to lose. Later in life, Mary enjoyed playing bingo at the retirement home. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers Brian Keith and Robert Lee Jones. Mary is survived by: her sons Greg of Kansas City, MO and Kevin Jones of Easton, KS; her daughters Susan Nester and Cindy Barker, both of Leavenworth; a brother Ronald (Marti) Jones of Iatan, MO; her sisters Margaret Berry of Lansing, KS and Helen McDonald of Weston; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
