Lucy V. Paden

Lucy V. Paden, 91, of New Market, MO passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. A visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, at the New Market Christian Church. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 31, at the church. Interment will follow at the Dearborn Cemetery, in Dearborn, MO. The family suggests contributions be given to: North Platte Educational Foundation—c/o Sheila Goodlet—40 Elm St.—Dearborn, MO 64439. Lucy was born September 20, 1921 in Wise, MO to Lee Wilkerson Wilson and Minnie Ray (Hawkins) Wilson. She was given a nickname by her mother and forever after was known as “Fid”. She attended school and lived her entire life in the New Market area. Fid married James W. Paden on November 25, 1937 in St. Joseph, MO. Over the years, she worked as a beautician, and was the first operator of the “29er Diner” in Dearborn. Fid was an active member of the New Market Christian Church, belonging to the Christian Women’s Fellowship; and was a member of her local Eastern Star chapter. She enjoyed many activities in life, including: square dancing, playing piano, talking on the C.B. radio, and traveling. Most of all, “Grandma Fiddie” loved spending time with her grandkids. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and 2 sisters Georgia Mae Wagers, and Betty Jean Rozelle. Lucy is survived by: 2 sons Loren R. Paden (Anna) of New Market, and Jim Paden (Esther) of Dearborn; 2 daughters Sheila Goodlet (Steve) of New Market, and Patti Foster (Stuart) of Jacksonville, FL; sister Dixie Wilson of St. Joseph, MO; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 5 great, great grandchildren.
